Around the beginning of 2017 I started researching a solid Linux laptop, something cheap yet powerful enough to handle everything I could throw at it. After a bit of searching and a lot of reading I came upon the X220 series of ThinkPads. These laptops are held in pretty high regard all across the internet for their remarkable compatibility with Linux. While on the smaller side for laptops, I tend to be one who uses my desktop when I am at home almost exclusively and as I plan on using it this on the go (and to replace my aging tablet), it should be fine for my needs. | Around the beginning of 2017 I started researching a solid Linux laptop, something cheap yet powerful enough to handle everything I could throw at it. ThinkPad X220Around the beginning of 2017 I started researching a solid Linux laptop, something cheap yet powerful enough to handle everything I could throw at it. NotesThe following is all of the notes I have collected and/or written while using my ThinkPad X220. This information should remain up-to-date as long as you see that the ThinkPad X220 is still my main laptop. History2017-07-16 : Purchased a Lenovo ThinkPad Genuine 44++ 9 Cell Li-ion Laptop Battery off eBay
2017-07-15 : Upon installing Arch Linux I started getting ata1: COMRESET failed (errno=-16) errors.
This was fixed by updating the firmware on the Intel SSD with their bootable ISO. 2017-07-14 : Purchased a Lenovo 92P1105 AC Charger Adapter (20V 4.5A 90W) off Amazon
2017-07-13 : Laptop picked up from FedEx, laptop is in amazing condition! Pictures will soon follow.
Only issues were AC Adapter included has Slim Tip and is unusable and SSD had no drive caddy. 2017-06-30 : Purchased a ThinkPad X220 Drive Cover+Caddy+Rails off eBay
2017-06-30 : Purchased a Lenovo ThinkPad X220 from Filmar Technologies
Item was listed as "LENOVO THINKPAD X220 – 2.80GHz, 0GB HDD, 8GB RAM, , W7 – GRADE A" Two upgrade options where selected on ordered: 160 GB Solid State Drive and Add AC Charger Adapter Gallery | Arch Linux x64_86
